About the Curriculum

The Wired Human Curriculum is a comprehensive, value-driven approach designed specifically for middle school students (grades 6-8) to help them navigate the complexities of the internet and digital world.

Developed by the Wired Human Academic Advisory Committee, this course addresses the unique challenges and opportunities that young adolescents face in today’s technology-driven society.

Who Should Use This Curriculum?

  • Middle school teachers and educators
  • School counselors and psychologists
  • Youth group leaders and mentors
  • Parents and guardians of middle school students
  • Community organizations focused on youth development

This curriculum is designed to be flexible and adaptable, allowing educators and mentors to integrate it into various educational settings, including traditional classrooms, after-school programs, youth groups, and home-schooling environments.

Core Pillars

  1. SocialWe believe that true change happens in the community. Our curriculum is designed to be experienced in small groups, fostering meaningful discussions and shared learning experiences. By creating a supportive social environment, students can openly explore digital challenges and solutions together.
  2. SafeOnline safety is a critical component of our curriculum. We approach sensitive topics without judgment or shame, creating a safe space for students to learn and share. Through digital mentorship and trust-building exercises, we help students develop the confidence to navigate online spaces securely.
  3. Solution-FocusedRather than simply highlighting online dangers, our curriculum empowers students to be part of the solution. We help them develop critical thinking skills, encourage them to debate and propose online safety solutions, and inspire them to become digital leaders in their communities.
